Donald Gard Award, Amount: $300- $500

Open to: Religious Studies majors in their junior year. ♦ Demonstrated academic excellence. ♦ Enrollment at Cal State Fullerton for the upcoming academic year. ♦ Past recipients are ineligible to apply.

Established by: This award was established by the Religious Studies Department to honor Dr. Donald Gard, a respected scholar and educator, by recognizing outstanding student academic achievement and potential.

Criteria: Academic achievement ♦ Career goals

Scholarship Recipient Requirements: If selected, recipients will be asked to attend the Department of Religious Studies awards banquet.

Application Deadline: March 1

Islamic Studies Scholarship, Amount: $500- $1000 each (up to three scholarships)

Established by: This award was established by the Religious Studies Department and is funded by the Department's Islamic Studies Endowment.

Open to: This award is open to current students with a declared minor in Islamic Studies. ♦ Enrollment at Cal State Fullerton for the upcoming academic year. ♦ Past recipients are ineligible to apply.

Criteria: Scholastic achievement and academic potential within the Religious Studies Department ♦ Clarity and dedication reflected in the applicant's career goals

Scholarship Recipient Requirments: If selected, recipients will be asked to attend the Department of Religious Studies awards banquet.

Jain Studies Scholarship, Amount: $500- $1000 each (up to six scholarships)

Established by: This award was established by the Religious Studies Department and is funded by the Bhagwan Shantinath Program in Jain Studies. The scholarship is designed to support students who have demonstrated a significant academic interest in Jainism.

Open to: This award is open to: current students who have successfully completed or currently enrolled in RLST 307 (Non-violence, Animal Rights, and Diet in Jainism) or RLST 270T (when the topic is Hinduism and Jainism). ♦ Enrollment at Cal State Fullerton for the upcoming academic year. ♦ Past recipients of this scholarship are ineligible.

Criteria: Scholastic achievement and academic performance in RLST 307 or RLST 270T ♦ Career Goals

James Parkes- Morton Fierman Award , Amount: $300- $500

Established by: This award was established by the Religious Studies Department to honor the legacies of Dr. James Parkes and Dr. Morton Fierman. This award recognizes students who demonstrate an exemplary commitment to service within the department, university, and the wider community.

Open to: This award is open to current Religious Studies majors. ♦ Demonstrated involvement in service to the Department of Religious Studies, Cal State Fullerton, and/or the broader community. ♦ Evidence of leadership and active participation in on-campus organizations. ♦ Enrollment at Cal State Fullerton for the upcoming academic year.

Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated based on: The quality and impact of their service to the Department of Religious Studies, the university, and the community. ♦ Their commitment to foster collaboration and engagement through service.

Scholarship Recipient Requirements: If selected, recipients will be asked to attend the Department of Religious Studies awards banquet.

Application Procedure: Please log into your CSUF Portal, type “Scholarships” in the search engine of your Portal, and click on the “Scholarships” button. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the online CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION for the current academic year. In the "Community Involvement" section of the application, describe how you are currently serving Cal State Fullerton and/or the wider community through your involvement in on-campus and/or off-campus organizations.
